2020 was a tough year due to COVID19 pandemic, which resulted in the closure of Beirut Airport on 18/19 March Midnight 2020, later MEA operated evacuation flights to various destinations as well as to 27 African destinations to bring families back home during COVID19 pandemic.

1 July 2020 marked the reopening of Beirut Airport.

On 10 July 2020, Middle East Airlines- Air Liban received from Airbus Factory in Hamburg- Germany the first A 321neo.
The A321neo, is powered by Pratt & Whitney’s PurePower PW1100G-JM geared turbofan engines that are highly efficient in energy consumption and low CO2 emissions, which will contribute in reducing the operation costs of the company as well as ground noise by 50%.

While the aircraft cabin can accommodate 240 passengers, MEA chose to customize it to accommodate only 160 passengers, 28 seats in Business class and 132 in Economy class, with a view to provide the passengers with the highest well-being. The cabin combines luxury and spaciousness. It is equipped with the best seats and latest generation in-flight entertainment system in both Business and Economy classes, including high speed internet connectivity, reflecting the company's ambition to provide customers with the best products in the aviation industry.

On 9 October 2020, MEA took delivery of Airbus’ A320 Family aircraft with manufacturer serial number 10,000. MSN10,000 is the third A321neo to join the all Airbus MEA fleet, taking the fleet size to 18 aircraft. The handover of the aircraft took place in Toulouse in the presence of Mohamad El-Hout, Chairman and Director General of MEA.

MEA took on MSN5,000 in 2012, after 23 years of Airbus A320 Family production. The next 5,000 took just another eight years to mark this significant MSN10,000 milestone - again with MEA. This achievement is a testimony of the industrial advancement and capabilities by Airbus and the popularity of the latest, even more efficient NEO version of the aircraft.
